Tillful iOS App

Project Summary

Company analytics showed that a majority of Tillful users were using the Tillful Web App on a mobile interface. Data from Statista shows from 2012 to 2020, that the number of mobile banking users worldwide had exponentially increased. Based off of Tillful’s market and its competitors, the decision was made to create a native mobile app in order to enhance the Tillful experience for new and existing users.

What is Tillful?

Tillful helps new and existing businesses build their business credit. Business credit is essential for small businesses to attain the funding and financial standing they need in order to grow their platform. Tillful announced in March 2021 that in only two months it had already facilitated over 350 small business loans, worth over $10m.

App Store Preview

Previews for the app in the App Store were created after a series of iterations, between design and copy, in close collaboration with the marketing team and CEO.

Onboarding

To kick off the app's design, onboarding was the first step brought to the table. The existing web app onboarding was mapped out in order to emulate the same information that would be needed during the mobile app's onboarding.

Building and Optimizing the Onboarding Flow

By using the existing onboarding, this allowed the iOS onboarding to be built and remixed with fewer iterations to fit the app. New features and sections such as Face ID, a survey, and other mobile app experiences were added to enhance the accessibility, as well as the users' initial experience.

Taking Note of the Web App Dashboard

Before starting the dashboard, each widget and their mobile counterparts were taken into account in order to streamline the building process. The main objective when optimizing the web app in to the mobile app was to create a seamless flow between the pre-existing sections and the design freedom/capabilities that come in a mobile app. The two types of dashboards were emulated from the already existing dashboard on web with a small set of differences in the layout, flow, and coloring.

Building the Dashboard

For a Basic User, accessibility and information is limited until the user connects their bank account(s) to their Tillful account. An active user will have their bank account(s) connected allowing them to have access to the full platform.

After weeks of back and forth iterations, the dashboard had a series of new features and flows varying from existing widgets, to the app settings and more.

Mobile App Services and Updates

In order to fulfill the maintenance side of the Tillful App, select screens such as a maintenance, forced or optional updates, and in-app alerts were needed in order to tell the user what's required or available in select situations.
